Maintenance Lead - Temp to Perm ($60-$65/hr)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Lead to join our operations team. Reporting to the Plant and Maintenance Superintendent, you will play a critical role in ensuring our plant, equipment, and facilities operate safely, reliably, and at optimum performance.
This is an initial temporary opportunity with a strong possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.
As the Maintenance Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating preventative and breakdown maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a small maintenance team to deliver outstanding operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute preventative and breakdown maintenance activities
- Lead and support maintenance shutdowns and equipment overhauls
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, suppliers, and external service providers
- Manage and continuously improve the preventative maintenance program
- Monitor critical spare parts inventory and oversee engineering stores
- Assist with maintenance budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Work closely with production teams to maximise plant uptime and reliability
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance systems and processes
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel to achieve business objectives
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies and statutory requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory or leadership role within manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and plant reliability practices
- Experience working with industrial plant equipment including pumps, gearboxes, compressors, motors, and heat exchangers
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing contractors and external service providers
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS/MEX preferred)
